Teeth Whitening

Tea, coffee, red wine and cigarettes leave stains on tooth enamel over time. Professional whitening lifts these surface stains and brightens teeth by up to three shades. It is done in a single session, takes 1–2 hours and needs no anaesthetic. It is the shortest of our Istanbul programmes: one night is enough.

How much whiter will they get?

Whitening lifts teeth by up to three shades. What matters most is your starting colour: if you begin from a darker shade the change looks more dramatic, while from an already light shade the difference is subtler.

The result is visible straight after the session. The change is bounded by your tooth’s natural structure: whitening does not turn teeth into a flat white surface, it brings out the lightest version of your own colour.

How is it done?

First the gums and lips are covered with a protective barrier. The whitening gel is then applied to the tooth surface and activated with an LED light system, which speeds up its effect on the stains. You stay awake throughout and feel no pain; no anaesthetic is used.

Crowns and fillings will not change

This is worth knowing before treatment. Whitening only works on natural tooth enamel. Zirconia, porcelain crowns, veneers and composite fillings keep their existing colour.

If you have restorations at the front, a colour difference can appear between them and your whitened natural teeth. In that case the dentist usually reverses the order: whitening first, then the restorations are matched to the new shade. This is planned together at your examination.

How long do the results last?

The brightness holds for between 6 months and 2 years. Where you land in that range comes down to daily habits — tea, coffee and smoking are the main things that speed up restaining.

Regular brushing, flossing and six-monthly check-ups extend the result. When the brightness fades over time, whitening can be repeated.

How does it work, step by step?

1

Online consultation (from home)

You share photos of your teeth over WhatsApp. The dentist assesses whether the staining is superficial, and we send whether whitening suits you along with a personalised quote within 24 hours.

2

Examination and preparation

A short examination is carried out at the clinic. Any decay or gum problems must be treated before whitening. The tooth surfaces are then cleaned and the gums covered with a protective barrier.

3

The whitening session

The gel is applied and activated with the LED light. A single session of 1–2 hours is enough. You can see the result in the mirror as soon as you get up from the chair.

4

Aftercare and return

You are advised to avoid staining foods and drinks in the first days. Mild sensitivity is possible and passes within a few hours to a few days. After your one-night stay you are ready for the return flight.

Who is it suitable for?

  • People with yellowed teeth or superficial staining
  • Adults with healthy gums and no decay
  • Those wanting a brighter smile without restorations
  • Those lightening natural teeth before having restorations

When might it not be suitable?

  • Anyone with untreated decay
  • Those with gum infection or periodontal problems
  • People with cracks in their teeth
  • Anyone whose concern is only the colour of crowns or fillings

Frequently asked questions

How long do I need to stay in Istanbul?
One night is enough. The procedure takes 1–2 hours and is completed in a single session — the shortest of our programmes. If you prefer, we can also fit whitening into the same trip as another treatment.
Will it hurt during the procedure?
No, and no anaesthetic is needed. Some people notice temporary sensitivity to hot and cold afterwards, which settles on its own within a few hours to a few days. Any mild gum discomfort usually disappears the same day.
How many shades lighter will they be?
Up to three shades. The exact result depends on your starting colour, the structure of your enamel and how deep the staining goes. The effect is more noticeable with surface stains.
Will my crowns whiten too?
No. Whitening only affects natural enamel; zirconia, porcelain crowns and composite fillings keep their colour. If you have restorations at the front, the dentist will usually suggest whitening first and then matching the restorations to the new shade.
How soon can it be repeated?
The brightness lasts between 6 months and 2 years, depending on your habits. It can be repeated once the effect fades, and you should follow your dentist’s advice on how often.
